Make Money From Your Blog

Blogs used to be just for fun. People created them to share with friends and family, or other people interested in a personal passion – say chocolate, dog training, jewelry stores or gardening. Today, blogging is also a great online business to earn money online. I know some people earning more than $100 per day from just one blog.

The three most effective ways to earn with a blog are:

  • Placing Google AdSense ads
  • Affiliate marketing
  • Selling your own products or services

If you want to make a handsome living from your blog, it must be of high quality, and really useful to readers. You can select any topic for your blog that you know about – finance, health, automobiles, real estate, or any other area where you have first-hand knowledge and can write good, original material.

Make sure your blog is highly visible to search engines, and use the most important keywords for your topic. If people can’t find your blog, you won’t make money.

TIP: If you want easy and quick money, select a topic related to shopping, gifts, accessories, jewelry or other popular consumer goods. Ads for these kinds of goods command high rates, and tend to convert very well, that is, lots of people click on these ads.

Method No.1 To Earn From Blog Is Google AdSense:

This is the simplest and most widely used way of earning money from a blog. Once you have created your blog and published at least five original posts, you can apply for a free Google AdSense account. As soon as your application is approved, you can start showing Google ads on your blog. Note: If your blog doesn’t have unique content, your application will be rejected.

You can create a blog even if you don’t want to buy a domain name or pay for website hosting . Blogger.com lets you set up a free blog in just a few minutes, if you have a Gmail account (also free).

WordPress also offers a free blogging service. But WordPress does not allow Google ads on the blogs it hosts for free, nor links to most affiliates such as Clickbank, Usercash, Clickhop, Cashrocks or Payingcash. That’s because WordPress makes money by hosting Google ads on its free blogs. Accepting the presence of those ads is part of your agreement with WordPress.

Because WordPress limits commercial activity on blogs it hosts for free, I recommend you use the free Blogger.com service if you want to run ads. Blogger.com, which is owned by Google, allows all types of ads. You’ll have full control over your blog and the ads you choose to run if you purchase your own domain name and pay a company to host your blog.

Tips for Google AdSense Success

1)  Add as many pages as you can on all aspects of your chosen topic. If your blog is about acne treatment, create categories such as Natural Acne Treatment, Laser Acne Treatment, Acne Creams, Acne Lotions and other topics that people are searching for. Write posts on relevant aspects within each category. This creates more pages for Google to fill with AdSense ads, and increases the likelihood people will return to your blog for new information. Remember to provide original information on every page. Don’t copy your material from other websites, and don’t replicate text on more than one page within your blog.  Duplicate content is a signal to search engines that your site is of low quality.

2) Make sure the Google ads appear “above the fold” on all your pages. Test your blog on a laptop and in multiple browsers to makes sure your ads appear without your blog visitor having to scroll. This will increase the number of people who click on your ads.

3) Create links between pages on your blog. This increase the time people spend on your site, earning you more ad clicks. Links between web pages also tell search engines that your site is of higher quality.

Method No.2 – Earn Money From Blog Through Affiliate Marketing:

Affiliate marketing entails hosting ads for other people’s products on your blog. You get paid a commission when someone clicks on an ad you’re hosting and buys from the site that placed the ad. Your commission can range between 1 percent and 75 percent of the sale, depending on the advertiser.

Three big, reputable affiliate networks are CJ.com, Amazon and clickBank. CJ and Amazon both sell a huge range of goods, while ClickBank sells e-books on many different topics.

All the tips that work for AdSense ads can be applied to affiliate ads, except for placing ads above the fold. I’ve found that you get more clicks when you place affiliate links within your posts.

Method No.3 – Sell Your Own Products on Your Blog:

This is the most profitable way to earn money from your blog: If you succeed, you retain all the profits. But this method takes more effort and patience than running Google ads or affiliate ads.

E-books are the simplest product to sell, and they’re popular. You can hire a professional writer to create an e-book for you. The topics that get the most interest – and sales – are health related: weight loss, acne treatment and asthma control are popular.

Once you’ve got an e-book to sell, create a clean and simple blog on the relevant topic. Then join ClickBank and create a persuasive letter to encourage people to sell your e-book for you on their own blogs.
