Every website owner is worried about the traffic on her/his website. Increase in website traffic is a real issue for every website. But before that you should also think that why you need traffic or visitors on your website?

You may be saying that “What a stupid question. Everyone knows that…”. Yes that’s true but i want to make you understand another point from this question. i) People coming from Search Engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN etc.
ii) People coming from social networks like Facebook, twitter, digg and many others.
But What Type Of Visitors Should I Try To Get For My Website For Better Earnings?
Quick answer is the “Search Engine” traffic should be your choice. The people coming from social networks are usually not the buyers. The person who want to buy something will not go to face book to buy the product. He will search it on Google and will try to find the best selling websites or online stores. These people are interested people and when they will reach to your website, they will buy the product or will click on your ads for more info about the service or products.
Please remember that 100 people from search engines like Google are far better than 1000 visitors from social networks.
I have studied this many times on the net. But when i experienced it on my websites, i was agreed completely. On my new websites, if i am getting 6 people from Google, one of them is clicking on the Google ads . This is why i only try to chase the search engine rankings for my website traffic.
Does it Means That You Should Not Use The Social Networks?
You should use them, but for the backlinks to your websites. The backlinks will increase your ranking in the search engine results.
What Will Be The Disadvantage If Your Website Is Getting Mainly the Social Traffic?
This effect will be on the websites displaying Google Ads for earning online. Suppose your website is getting 90% visits from social networks. It means that most of the traffic will not be converting. What will be the result. The good and high priced Ads will not be served by Google on your website. The advertisers may ask Google to remove the ads from your website. And you will be getting low priced Ads.
But if you are getting the search engines traffic and people are clicking on the Google Ads and buying the products, Google will place the good priced Ads so that You, Google and Advertisers all will be in the benefit.
